what the future holds, no one knows. so what do we do? peer into our crystal balls in hope of finding that elusive clue to the mystery called life. our need to know the future is omnipresent and constantly on our minds, we want to be sure of our decisions, our needs, our goals and that we want to make the best possible choice at any given point in time. such reassurance seems to soothe us and ground ourselves to mother earth.
nonetheless, the past is also important. what lessons we've learnt and will learn are determined by our attitude towards the future, based on past experience. who knows what the future holds? we can only stand on our own 2 feet and speculate plan a and plan b. we never come across a plan c because we can only choose left and right. perhaps broadening our perspectives will enable us to see up and down as well. somewhat like taking a wide lens camera as opposed to a normal one - we see things we've never seen before and discover there are indeed more than 2 choices.
as time draws near, i look forward to my long-run future as much as my short-run future. i wonder when my so called "mid life crisis" will happen, i wonder when i will have kids and i wonder about life in general. we cannot stop the human mind from wandering, but probably only help it wander sometimes, as exploration is good for us. for now, i'm contented where i am and where i stand in time.
