my recent embarkment on the study of contemporary europe has led me to discover my fascination with 'russianism' - authors, landscape, architecture, country, communism, lenin to gorbachev. and not forgetting, the origins of lomographic cameras!
yes, western europe is lovely and endearing, but the east has a little bit more to discover, just because it is still discovering itself. the study of civil society, or lack thereof, in post-communist countries is something new for me and i thoroughly enjoy it, although sometimes i wonder if the others are really absorbing the political and social issues surrounding the films and books we read. i get frustrated when they just dwell on the texts instead. bah.
russia, wait for me!
