postcards from travelling friends. from marielle in amsterdam and her home switzerland (bern, aarau, bivio and zurich); peter in fiji. both doing their 'round the continent' and 'round the world' trip, respectively. makes me jealous. (aside: my medieval europe primary documents and a mandarin)
there's so much to see out there. monuments to go "oo" and "aahh" at, culture to experience, food to taste and trigger happy moments. it's a pity when people tell me they've "been there, done that", but lack the knowledge or even history about a certain place/country. pictures serve as their evidence of "worldliness".
in case you're wondering, i'm still in love with 'russianism'. and as luck would have it, there's a 'st. petersburg 1900' exhibition here in perth. i thoroughly enjoyed myself, groping the pictures with my eyes and imagining the landscapes. the pictures were exactly how i imagined they would be. realism to display social commentary; and romanticised figures to paint a 'brighter' future.
naturally, one couldn't take pictures in the gallery, but here are some highlights from the shop(hawhaw), which was selling memorabilia..
Marco. period.
a little poster of marco's favourite painting of the painter, ivan shiskin.
