it's been a pretty hectic time in Hanoi thus far. we've had to change hotels twice, or rather, hostel/guesthouse (heh). the first was grandoise and we had a visitor in the morning in the form of a cockroach. enough to chase us out of that shit place. the second was alright..but the cracks in the bathroom ceiling made the place seem dodgy - but at least the air conditioning worked. so we have now checked into our third one, relatively more pricey, but very relaxing. heh.

we did the old quarter of hanoi yesterday, where each street had its own "theme". one where they sold mirrors, another with tin boxes, a "wedding" street and one totally filled with shoes shoes shoes. rather amusing, albeit the stiff competition. today we'll do Ho Chi Minh's mausoleum and a few pagodas; tomorrow will be the day-long trip to Ha Long Bay. i first went there when i was 15 and perhaps didn't know how to appreciate the quiet beauty of the limestones. i foresee it'll be different this time.

i also checked my results for the last semester. poetry is highly subjective - that's all i can say.

Smile.
