a lot has happened during my first week in the netherlands. the other part of my life has kicked start into motion again. it feels strange to be 'starting' uni again, what with orientation and other nonsense to attend.
nonetheless, amsterdam is a beautiful city - i wish people could see past its seedy druggie/prostitution persona. however, i don't feel the city (centre) is too "dutch", especially with the tourists getting high on every corner of the street. apparently 80% of the people that patronise coffeeshops are tourists. smaller, quieter cities/towns like leiden, gouda, delft and even den haag have more gellezig to offer sometimes.
thomas is out getting bread and some basic necessities; the neighbours are renovating their apartment.
