phew! the past few days have been really hectic. uni, comps, stay overs blablabla.
well. about phuket, it's really fun la. very bummish. i was rather irked by the caucasian ladies that went around topless though. i pride myself in being more open minded than the average asian, but sometimes when push comes to shove, certain morals and values pretty much kick in.
seeing old caucasian men with young thai girls is a common sight. however, (since i'm not religious) my dad and i had a discussion about religion because most of the older men had crucifixes or a pendant of buddha, yet engaging in such "activities". hohum. my dad once told me, if you want to do something, do it completely, wholeheartedly and not halfway with regrets. i agree, but sometimes i guess it's really hard, especially with circumstances that only a magic crystal ball can predict; then again, how accurate is it? sometimes plunging head first into things will overwhelm you with a sense of euphoria indescribable, and after the honeymoon period, you only grow stronger or weaker. i guess it's up to the individual.
watched the sdba races yesterday and today..really hot weather. really proud of my juniors and their accomplishments thus far. oh yes, in case you're wondering, i did bring my sunblock around.
shaun
jon. me. zee.
hao and weilun, first in their heats. whoot
met soph in town after day1 of races. shopped around and then headed home. watched a sex and the city marathon till about 3am and hit the sheets about an hour later. oh yeah. we watched william hung too, complete with exotic dancemoves only hung would do. yes, we memorized the steps and had our own little boogie ala "she bangs!" - hung style. only thing we couldn't do was prolly his little lisp. hurhurhur.
hung. william hung.
funny thing about william hung is, he fits into a typical asian stereotype - humble, respectful, reserved, conservative and many more. i was just wondering, had i auditioned and sang horribly (which is really possible), and answered with that same answer, would i have made it big? thing is, this answer of "no regrets and tried my best" is a "typical" asian answer that we, as asians, expect to hear. perhaps to caucasians, it's something new and they like that humility - afterall, westerners are really pro-individual, reminding me of js mill, and asians are taught to be self-sacrificing and humble, which perhaps creates the discrepencies. i guess i am being biased in my judgement, but again, perceptions of life.
aiya.
just my tubes alone. fuck.
at nus.
we woke up at 8am for the NUS open house today. very much an eye opener, i'm glad to say. saw the campus and faculties + dorms. well. i just hope all those triple A science students don't "steal" our places. ARGHHHHH...
went down for more races after that. yes..sunblock, sunblock.
a sweet end to today.
