embarking on my last essay of the semester for film class has emphasised the ordinary and the everyday.
surrounded by the media depicting outgoing social lives, emotional happenings and mini personal disasters, our lives seemingly pale in comparison and thus starts the vicious cycle of reality and imitation. our constant desire to find meaning in everything - if the glass if half full or half empty, the symbolism we sometimes peer into too much. sometimes, we come up for breath amidst our endeavours in the fluid meaning that is life and realise (or not) our individual identities.
ah, the ubiquitous search for the meaning of life. apparent in every religion, science, belief, social science, philosophy.
it's time we started looking in ourselves first.
