it's been one helluva day! from getting accepted to uni of amsterdam (now i just have to do the paper work..), to watching (the race of) the melbourne cup at a pub and receiving snail mail from two beloved friends.

since i'm in a rare perky mood from all the bubbly..

melbourne cup.
was an interesting aussie experience, despite not doing the full on traditional lunch-cum-eventual-dinner. nonetheless, me best mate, anne and i, dressed up complete with hats and trooped down to TAB to place our stingy student bets on wickedly named horses (ie ice chariot, activation, pop rock, dolphin jo, art success, short pause..) in hopes of striking it utopianly rich. with seven minutes remaining to get to the pub before the race, we rushed and scoured the carpark for a lot and just made it in time to catch the race. alas, delta blues won and i walked away AU$5 poorer. i am missing the chinese gambling gene, thank god. 2 gin tonics later, we were heading back to my place and onward ho! to matilda bay for a brilliant picnic under quaint skies. check out my four nonblondes hat i borrowed from anne!

on coming back from the bay, i received a package from my darling shoobs! ahahaha ecstatic, i ripped open the bag and found a beloved roll of duct tape. ah, mind you, it wasn't any other duct tape, but duct tape from the singapore biennale. very useful when it comes to packing after my exam. a personal note amongst the throng of postcards made me smile.

a postcard from my dearest swissmiss also arrived from Douai (near Lille, France) where she's doing a teaching programme.

this adds to my postcard collection which includes a recent one from peter that reads "no kangaroos in austria". yeah balls. spot it!

so ends a rather happy day for me. i'll enjoy it till the clock strikes midnight..or until the alcohol wears off.

Smile.
