it's been a month since my arrival in amsterdam.

it's funny how identity works in more than one way. the most poignant would probably have to be using another culture to reflect on and define your own. suddenly mainstream is different.

the problem of assimilation or integration, or lack of thereof, is one that plagues almost every country. how to "gel" the people, how to inculcate tolerance and appreciation of other cultures, how should the state carry out equal treatment. secularisation and neutrality seem the way to go, but alas, they have been digging graves.

i wonder, what comes after globalisation?
